Rain-triggered landslides in two areas in Indonesia’s Central Java province final week have led to the deaths of a minimum of 18 individuals, authorities mentioned on Monday, with search operations ongoing.
A landslide within the metropolis of Cilacap final week buried a dozen homes in Cibeunying village, the catastrophe mitigation company mentioned.
Search and rescue efforts had been difficult as individuals had been buried 10 to 25 toes deep, it mentioned.
The Cilacap landslide has killed a minimum of 16 individuals, with 7 lacking, mentioned M Abdullah, chief of the search and rescue company’s native division.
