British Airways flight makes emergency landing in Boston after suspected bird strike

A British Airways flight headed from Washington, D.C., to London Saturday diverted to Boston after a report of a chook strike and smoke within the cabin, officers mentioned.

British Airways Flight 216 landed at Boston Logan Worldwide Airport at about 7:30 p.m. Jap Time "after the crew reported a potential chook strike and fumes within the cabin," the Federal Aviation Administration mentioned in a press release to CBS Information.

The Boeing 777 had departed Dulles Worldwide Airport and was certain for Heathrow Airport.

A spokesperson for British Airways mentioned the flight was diverted to Boston "as a precaution following a suspected chook strike," including that engineers had been inspecting the plane.

A Massachusetts Port Authority spokesperson instructed CBS Information in an e mail "a chook was struck" and that the aircraft "landed with out incident."

No additional particulars had been instantly supplied. There have been no experiences of accidents. It is unclear how many individuals had been aboard the plane.
